Cyril Cowsill (Cowsell) 1911-1944 age 32

Born: 1911 in Barnsley Q4

Son of: William Cowsell (born 1883 in Stockport, died 1961 in Barnsley age 78) and Edith Cowsell nee Dunnill (1886-1957, died age 71) Cyril's parents married on 2nd February 1911 at St Edward's Church Barnsley. Edith's address on the marriage certificate was 126 Racecommon Road and William's was 13 Dobie Street. The couple moved to 20 Willow Street after marriage and had four children:
  • Cyril 1911
  • Margaret 1913
  • Ronald 1919
  • Eileen  1923
Husband of: May Cowsell nee Burton of 96 Racecommon Road. They married in 1934 Q2 and had three children: Derek in 1935, Alan in 1936 and Michael B. in 1939.

Military Service: Cyril was a Craftsman in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Service number 14522510

Death: 8th April 1944 at Colchester Hospital at the age of 32 years.
Buried: 13th April 1944 at Barnsley Cemetery, Row 9, Grave 47. Cyril's gravestone bears the inscription
"O love 
That will not let me go
I give thee back 
The life I owe."
